WWU

I am a recent graduate of Western Washington University with a major in Communication studies and minors in Psychology and English. I created many projects during my time at Western, featured below are a few of my favorites.

Red Square Brick Repair

I wrote this proposal for my English 101 class. We were told to spend a week observing a location on campus and do several different projects based on our observations. Below is a PDF of the proposal I created to repair the bricks in Red Square and save the university money. To the left is an info graphic that I created to go along with the project, and the full project website can be found at: https://tarakay97.wixsite.com/redsquare.

Back to B'Ham Brochure

I created this brochure in my COMM 350 class for the annual Back to B'Ham event. The information on the brochure is not specific to the actual event that year, but was created for a class project. You can take a closer look by clicking on the photos to the left!

REI Newsletter

This was a fun group project also from my COMM 350 class. We worked together to create a six page newsletter for REI and these were the pages that I designed and contributed.

The Understanding of Race Through Conformation in Speech

This next project was the most challenging one of my time at Western. Our professor put us into groups and told us to have an open discussion about race. We were asked to record this hour long discussion, transcribe it and individually dissect our conversation to create a research paper. Click the icon on the left to read more.

SimpliFearful

This last paper focuses on an advertisement from the home security system company known as SimpliSafe. In this paper I look closely at the different tactics used in their advertisements and address possible misconceptions. Click on the icon on the left for the full analysis.
